Zero Waste Declaration
"Garbage" if mixed, if you separate, "resource"
In 2003, Kamikatsu Town was the first local government in Japan to declare its Zero Waste. Zero waste means eliminating waste, waste, and waste, and is a concept that aims to create a society that "doesn't produce waste" rather than "how to dispose of waste."
We have decided to reduce waste to zero in the town, and are creating a system that uses local resources to prevent waste from being released.
[ZERO WASTE TOWN KAMIKATSU]
At Kamikatsu Town Zero Waste Center WHY, each and every townspeople strives to reduce waste, including "Garbage Station," where residents work to sort 43 waste by themselves, and "Kurukuru Shop," which reuses second-hand goods, and recycling rates of over 80%. I have achieved this.
As a pioneer of Zero Waste, Kamikatsu Town aims to "create people who can think about and act on the environment in which future children live as their own."

By switching to a wooden biomass (wood chip) produced in Kamikatsu -cho instead of the heavy oil used so far, the budget reduction of the heavy oil paid outside the town, the creation of employment in the new industry, the majority of the annual CO2 Contributing to prevent global warming by reduction.
In addition, the use of thinned wood has been maintained by forests, leading to protecting the town from floods.
